Tri-State Severe Storm Watch: Hail, Tornadoes, 65 MPH Gusts Possible
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch from Philadelphia to Syracuse.
NEW JERSEY — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Tri-State area with the threat of possible tornadoes, hail, and powerful wind gusts up until 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch from Philadelphia to Syracuse. The watch affects about 31 million people, 7,500 schools, and more than 400 hospitals. It warns of the potential for quarter-sized hail, wind gusts of up to 65 mph, and tornadoes.
"Thunderstorms will impact the area through this evening. Some thunderstorms will be severe, and capable of damaging wind gusts and large hail," the weather service warned. "This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Delaware, northern Delaware, southern Delaware, northeast Maryland, central NewJersey, northern New Jersey, northwest New Jersey, southern New Jersey, east central Pennsylvania, northeast Pennsylvania and southeast Pennsylvania."
