Winter Weather Advisory Issued For 16 NJ Counties Ahead Of Weekend Storm

Most of the state is expected to see at least 1 inch of snow with the arrival of an Arctic blast of air Saturday night into Sunday.

Much of the Garden State will be under a Winter Weather Advisory this weekend as a fast-moving clipper system could drop as much as six inches in some parts of New Jersey, according to the latest forecast.

Almost everywhere will see at least 1 inch of snow Saturday night into Sunday morning, forecasters said. National Weather Service forecasters said that a range of 1 to 4 inches of snow is likely for nearly all of New Jersey, though more is possible in some areas.

Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Cumberland, Ocean, Cape May, Atlantic, Hudson, Union and eastern Essex counties will be under a Winter Weather Advisory starting Saturday night through 1 p.m. Sunday.

"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous," National Weather Service forecasters said.

Snow totals in those counties are expected to be between 2 and 4 inches, though more could fall.

There is a potential for pockets of heavier snowfall to occur in parts of the mid-Atlantic and southern New England, where snowfall may range from 3 to 6 inches. This is more likely to occur in southern New Jersey and the Delmarva Peninsula, rather than the New York City area, Accuweather said.

Forecasters are warning of slippery, snow-covered roads for travelers. Gusty winds Sunday could also result in snow blowing around. However, no ice is currently expected.

Bitterly cold temperatures are also in store for Sunday though Monday night, with most areas staying below freezing on Monday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

For those who aren't fans of this wintry weather, the good news is that temperatures will start to moderate into next week. Forecasters predict that by Thursday, most of New Jersey will get into the 50s.
