Asbury Park Boardwalk Commissions Painting
Part of the Asbury Park Wooden Walls Project and an extension of the Boardwalk's 'Art Lives Here' program will be here.

ASBURY PARK – The Asbury Park Boardwalk has announced it has commissioned a unique painting by internationally acclaimed artist Ed Fairburn.
Fairburn is best known for his thoughtful integration of cartography and portraiture which has been featured in Fast Company, My Modern Met, Flaunt and Colossal.
Part of the Asbury Park Wooden Walls mural project, and giving a nod to the Boardwalk’s award-winning “Art Lives Here” series, Fairburn used a map of the Asbury Park shoreline as his canvas, teasing out a portrait atop the topography to give human form to the very deep and storied place that is Asbury Park.

“Asbury Park itself is the embodiment the arts, so a piece like this is a compelling representation of this gorgeous setting,” says Pasqualina DeBoer, marketing director for the Asbury Park Boardwalk. “Having the portrait created atop a map of the Asbury Park shoreline conveys a sense of place and connectedness to the global art community.”
“Asbury Park is one of the country’s most iconic shorelines, heavily steeped in both history and the arts, which makes this a very interesting and important project to work on,” Fairburn says. “I am honored to have been chosen to give a face to this incredible place and to showcase Asbury Park in this very expressive way.”
