ASBURY PARK – Asbury Park decided to close schools effective Monday afternoon.

The district decided to promote social distancing in an attempt to flatten the curve of the spread.

Asbury Park School District will be closing for health-related reasons, the district said.

"We will have an abbreviated session for students only on March 16, 2020," the district said. "Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. The district will then officially close on March 17, 2020, and will tentatively re-open April 20, 2020 (pending emerging information from the CDC and/or health department).
