• Jersey Shore towns collect millions from beach badges; no one is watching how it is spent (app.com) — Asbury Park’s beach utility brought in about $3.3 million last season and ended with a surplus, but like many Shore towns, its detailed beach spending only emerges through records requests. A new transparency bill in Trenton would force coastal municipalities to clearly report how badge revenue is used, amid concerns that rising fees may be pricing out lower‑income beachgoers. 
• New State Grant Program Targets Social Isolation Among Seniors and People With Disabilities (tapinto.net) — Asbury Park nonprofits and public agencies can now apply for state grants up to $250,000 to combat social isolation among local seniors and people with disabilities, with applications due January 13. The $4 million Senior Wellness Pilot Program aims to fund new or expanded initiatives that keep older and disabled residents in Asbury Park and nearby Shore communities socially connected and engaged.
