Asbury Park Police: Increasing Fireworks Complaints In City

The Asbury Park Police Department says it's aware of increasing fireworks complaints throughout the city.

ASBURY PARK – The Asbury Park Police Department says it's aware of increasing fireworks complaints throughout the city.

The issue is not unique to Asbury Park and is plaguing communities throughout the country, police said in a message to residents.

However, the activity is "disruptive and annoying," and also causes undue stress to many residents and pets, police said.

"Therefore, this unacceptable activity will be enforced with zero tolerance," police said.

The APPD encourages everyone to take the following steps when reporting:

  • Report all firework complaints to (732)774-1300, press "0" for the dispatcher
  • Provide as much information as possible. i.e., what observed, area, description of residence/person(s) involved
  • If police observe the activity, they will issue a summons and seize any unused fireworks as evidence
  • If police do not observe the activity, the complainant will have the opportunity to sign a municipal summons on scene
