Chants, Unity, Clashes In NJ George Floyd Protests (UPDATED)

There was unity and there were clashes in NJ's George Floyd protests. Here's what happened this week, and here's what's planned for Saturday

NEW JERSEY – There were chants, and there were clashes. But there was also unity in New Jersey's George Floyd protests this week, a showing that drew widespread praise even as several incidents still caused fear and alarm.

More protests were planned for Saturday and Sunday as New Jersey continued to show its outrage toward what happened to Floyd in Minneapolis last month, when he was placed in a chokehold and later died.

Perhaps there was no event that elicited such a wide range of emotions than the protest in Asbury Park on Monday. Marchers chanted "take a knee" then cheered and hugged police officers after they actually did.

Overall, however, police reported few incidents as marchers peacefully protested in Hoboken, Teaneck, Paterson, Toms River, Ocean City and elsewhere. Here is what happened:
