Free Health Screenings Event and Blood Drive Hosted by Jersey Shore University Medical Center

Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center is hosting a free Hypertension and Cholesterol educational session Monday, December 8, 12 to 1 p.m., at the Asbury Park Public Library, 500 1st Ave. Asbury Park. Join us to learn more about high blood pressure and cholesterol and how you can incorporate healthy practices into your life to decrease your risk! Free wellness screenings will be offered as well between 1 to 3 p.m. Screenings will include Blood Pressure, Pulse, BMI, Glucose, Cholesterol and Stroke Risk Assessment. A nurse will be on hand to answer questions. No registration required.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in collaboration with Vitalant, is sponsoring a blood drive Tuesday, December 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the academic medical center’s Brennan Pavilion, 1st Floor waiting area, 1945 Route 33, Neptune, NJ. Donors will have a chance to win a $20,000 gift card if they join the Vitalant Donor Recognition Program. Terms and conditions apply for the gift card. Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer, among others.
Appointments are strongly recommended. People should call 877-258-4825 (877-25-VITAL), or visit donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code XJSMC, to make an appointment. Donors should weigh at least 110 lbs, bring an ID, eat a meal before donation, and drink plenty of water before and after donation.
