Man Dies After Being Pulled Unconscious From Jersey Shore Beach
First responders were called to the beach in Ocean Grove Monday for a 911 call of a man having a medical emergency.
OCEAN GROVE, NJ — A 72-year-old man died Monday after he was pulled from the water at the beach in Ocean Grove, according to local police.
According to authorities, first responders were called to the beach shortly before 11 a.m. that day for a 911 call reporting a man having a medical emergency. The man, a Florida resident, later died at a nearby hospital, said Neptune Twp. Police Chief Anthony Gualario.
Lifeguards pulled the man from the water after he was found unresponsive in the ocean, said the police chief. They reported he was unconscious and without a pulse. It's unknown what happened to the man in the water. CPR was done on the beach, and the man's pulse was regained, said Gualario.

The man was taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he died later Monday.
The man is a resident of St. Augustine, Florida, said police.

The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, which owns the beaches in the tiny resort town of Ocean Grove, called the man's death "tragic" on their Facebook page, and thanked Neptune Twp. Police and first aid squads for responding.
