3 Candidates Look To Fill Bernards Township School Board Vacancy

The selected candidate will fill out the remainder of Csilla Csipak's term through December 2025.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Three candidates have applied to fill a vacancy on the Bernards Township School Board after Csilla Csipak resigned in May.

Faisal Chaudhry, Smrithi Mohan, and Adam J. Lefkowitz all submitted applications for Csipak's vacancy by the deadline of May 30.

Superintendent Nick Markarian announced Csipak's resignation at the May 19 meeting due to "personal family reasons."

The Board of Education(BOE) then put out a call for applications. The BOE will select a candidate at the Monday, June 16 Board of Education meeting.

The selected candidate will fill out the remainder of Csipak's term through December 2025.

If the successful candidate wants to serve on the school board beyond 2025, they must file with the Somerset County Clerk’s office to run in the November BOE 2025 election.
