Summer is coming to a close, and parents in Basking Ridge can mark the first day of school that is quickly approaching.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Basking Ridge, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Bernards Township Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year.
The first day of school for most students in Basking Ridge is Thursday, Sept. 4.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

- Oct. 13 - Schools Closed
- Diwali - Oct. 20 - Schools Closed
- NJEA Convention: Nov. 6 and 7 - Schools Closed
- Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 26 (Half Day), Nov. 27 and 28 (Closed)
- Winter Break: Dec. 23 (Half Day), Dec. 24 through Jan. 2(Closed)
- MLK: Jan. 19 - Schools Closed
- Mid-Winter Recess/President's Day/Lunar New Year: Feb. 16, 17, 18 - Schools Closed
