Bernards Police Successfully Deploy Naloxone

The Bernards Township Police revived a victim of a suspected opiate overdose this past weekend.

The Bernards Township Police successfully administered Naloxone, a medical nasal spray used to revive victims of opiate overdoses, this past weekend, police announced.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, officers responded to a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle on Interstate 287 at 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, responding officers Michael Yeo and Phil Jasina discovered a 27-year-old Avenel man unconscious in his vehicle, according to Bernards Township Police.

The man reportedly displayed physical indications associated with opiate use, and police said they found alleged heroin paraphernalia in the vehicle. Officer Yeo deployed Naloxone, giving the victim two doses, and the man began regaining consciousness.
