Environmental Education Center Programs In Basking Ridge

The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as fall arrives in Somerset County.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS:

Birding at Skillman Park – NEW

  • Tuesday, October 20 from 12:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.
  • Adult birders will join a Naturalist at the Park Commission’s newest
  • general use park to find out which birds are calling it home.
  • Fee is $20 per person

Hawk Mountain Getaway

  • Thursday, October 22 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
  • Adults will enjoy a Naturalist-led day-trip to Hawk Mountain in Kempton, Pennsylvania, the ideal spot for fall hawk migration.
  • Fee is $65 per adult.

Family Nature Walk – FREE PROGRAM

  • Sunday, October 25 from 12 to 1 p.m.
  • Family and friends will enjoy a Naturalist-led interpretive walk
  • through the Great Swamp.
  • The program is free and pre-registration is not required.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
