Semi-Truck Crashes Into NJ Transit Bus In Newark, 8 Injured: Authorities
The bus was headed to a North Jersey mall at the time. Several people were hurt, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A semi-truck crashed into a NJ Transit bus in Newark while it was enroute to a North Jersey mall on Tuesday. Several people were injured, authorities say.
The crash took place around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Marlin Street and Port Street, near the Port Newark Container Terminal.
NJ Transit spokespeople said the truck rear-ended a bus on the No. 40 route, which departed North Arlington at 2:03 p.m. and was due to arrive at Jersey Gardens Mall at 3:40 p.m.

Port Authority police said eight people – including the driver of the bus and passengers – were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
The driver of the tractor trailer declined medical attention, authorities said.

An investigation into the crash continues, the Port Authority Police Department said Wednesday.
