Snow, Icy Roads Expected In Basking Ridge: See Latest Predictions

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The morning commute may be a messy one for Basking Ridge residents as forecasters are predicting some snow and ice.

Up to 2 inches of snow, with local amounts of up to 3 inches is possible in Basking Ridge, the National Weather Service reported.

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute," said the NWS, who also issued a winter weather advisory through 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Basking Ridge will primarily see rain on Wednesday night before shifting to snow on early Thursday morning. Snow is expected to fall anytime between 4 and 11 a.m.

Temperatures are then expected to drop to near freezing by daybreak Thursday causing the potential for icy roadways.

Here's a look at the Basking Ridge forecast as of 5 p.m. Wednesday:

Wednesday Night: Rain likely before 3 a.m., then rain and snow between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., then snow after 4 a.m. Low around 31. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Snow, mainly before 11 a.m. Temperature falling to around 27 by 5 p.m. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 23. Wind chill values as low as zero. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 8. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow before 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.
