Somerset County Woman Charged In Three Robberies

A 27-year-old Somerset County Woman has been arrested and charged for three area robberies which occurred last month.

A 27-year-old Franklin Township Woman has been arrested and charged for three area robberies which occurred last month.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Laquita Cooper is allegedly responsible for the following robberies:

  • June 22 - Cooper entered a Hamilton Street convenience store, pointed a knife at a store clerk and demanded money from the cash register. After reaching over the counter and removing an undetermined of currency she fled from the store.
  • June 25 - Cooper entered a Hamilton Street gas station convenience store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. After receiving currency from the clerk the defendant fled from the store.
  • June 29 - Cooper, as a passenger in a taxi cab traveling in the area of Douglas Avenue, pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money. When the driver refused to give the defendant money she reached over the seat and grabbed approximately $100 from the vehicle’s center console. A brief struggle ensued and the driver was able to disarm defendant Cooper before she exited the vehicle.

Cooper is charged with three counts of Robbery, 1st Degree and one count of Possession of Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 4th Degree. She is currently lodged at the Somerset County Jail and her bail is set at $250,000 cash only.
