Belleville Mayor Launches Re-Election Campaign At Birthday Fundraiser
Michael Melham is running for a third term as Belleville mayor in 2026.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville Mayor Michael Melham is running for a third term in the town’s May 2026 election.
Melham made his latest campaign announcement at his annual birthday fundraiser at Nanina’s in the Park on Dec. 2.
In a news release, Melham identified himself as the “independent” mayor of a “nonpartisan” town, noting that his fundraiser included attendance from Republican and Democrat residents.

“Let me be clear: I’m not running for Mikie Sherrill’s congressional seat,” he joked with attendees at last week’s fundraiser.
Melham touted several achievements made under the Better Belleville slate, including the sourcing of new revenue, “modernizing” Town Hall and departmental operations, and the creation of new recreational facilities.

Melham was first elected as mayor in 2018. He won re-election in 2022.
