Clara Maass Sees Red -- For a Good Cause
Medical Center Kicks Off Heart Health Month Activities with 'Wear Red' Day

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the single leading cause of death for American women. Men are at high risk, too. Recently at Clara Maass Medical Center, 1 Clara Maass Drive, physicians, nurses, staff, patients and visitors donned red shirts, dresses, ties and accessories to show support on National Wear Red Day, Feb. 4.

In support of American Heart Month, the Clara Maass Community Health Department provided complimentary blood pressure screenings and risk assessments to visitors and staff. Since a healthy diet also plays a key role in preventing heart disease, Executive Chef, Harry Reiter of the Food and Nutrition Services team, showed lunch-goers that eating right can be delicious by creating made-to-order, heart-healthy stir-fries with vegetables, grilled chicken and shrimp.

Clara Maass Medical Center offers comprehensive cardiac services including, emergent and elective angioplasty, diagnostic testing and cardiac rehabilitation. The Medical Center will also continue to offer heart-healthy programs and screenings throughout the month of February.
