Developers Propose Housing For Ex-Roche Complex On Rt. 3: Report

The developers of ON3, which straddles the border of Nutley and Clifton, are trying to get permission to add mixed-use housing to the site.

NORTH JERSEY— The developers of the complex that straddles the border of Clifton and Nutley are trying to get permission to add mixed-use housing to the site – possibly in the form of 125-foot-tall apartment buildings, a report says.

Earlier this month, Prism Capital Partners asked the Clifton City Council to change the zoning designation for 22 acres of property on their side of the ON3 complex. It would clear the way for 1,087 apartments to be built, NorthJersey.com reported.

The Clifton City Council didn’t make a decision on the proposal at the meeting. Read the full article here.

Part of the property is located in Clifton and the other section is in Nutley.

Prism Capital relaunched the property as a multi-tenant space in 2016 after Hoffmann-La Roche shut down operations at their North American headquarters campus. Since then, tenants such as the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, Ralph Lauren and Eisai Inc. have made ON3 their home, bringing thousands of jobs along for the ride.

Prism representatives said the changes would help the tenants at ON3 to attract top-tier workers, which would also boost local residents and businesses.

However, some residents said they are concerned about the impact that more than 1,000 units of housing (a mixture of studios, one- and two-bedroom units) would have on schools and public services in the area.
