Flood Watch In Belleville-Nutley: Weekend Weather Forecast

BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ — A hard rain’s gonna fall in Nutley and Belleville this weekend, weather forecasters predict.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Flood Watch will be in effect for the Belleville-Nutley area from Saturday morning through late Saturday night. A total of 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain is in the forecast, with higher amounts possible.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” forecasters said, adding that creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

Flooding may also take place in “poor drainage and urban areas,” forecasters noted.

Here’s what is in store for Nutley and Belleville this weekend, according to the NWS:

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Rain, mainly after 11pm. Low around 40. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 51. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of rain before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. North wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a north wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.
