Fraud In Nutley: Suspicious Mail, Bank Withdrawals, Credit Cards
Several cases of fraud were recently reported in Nutley, police say.
NUTLEY, NJ — Several cases of fraud were recently reported in Nutley, police announced Monday.
The Nutley Police Department released the following details about incidents that have been reported in the township:
May 5 (Albany Avenue) – “Officers responded on report of fraud. The resident stated that they have received multiple pieces of mail that were addressed to a business that they do not own. The resident stated they have not observed any discrepancies with their financial accounts at this time. The detective bureau was advised.”

May 6 (Crestwood Avenue) – “A victim of fraud responded to headquarters to document the incident. They stated that they observed multiple unauthorized withdrawals on their account. The victim stated that they had frozen their account and obtained a new card. They were offered to be entered as an identity theft victim and advised that they wished to do so. The detective bureau was advised.”
May 6 (Race Street) – “A resident responded to headquarters to report a fraudulent incident. They stated they received two credit card applications in the mail that were ultimately denied but they advised that they did not apply for the credit cards. The victim stated that they contacted their bank to inform them of the incident, and they were advised to monitor all their financial accounts. They were offered to be entered as an identity theft victim but declined at the time. The detective bureau was advised.”

May 8 (Park Avenue) – “A victim of fraud responded to headquarters to document the incident. They stated that they were expecting a credit card in the mail but never received it. Upon checking their bank account, they observed multiple unauthorized charges. The victim stated that they contacted their bank to inform them of the charges. They stated that their card was canceled and have not observed any discrepancies to their other financial accounts.”
