Belleville Street Floods, Road Closed: See Local Weekend Weather Forecast
A coastal flood advisory and a high wind advisory are in effect in the Belleville-Nutley area.
BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ — Stormwater flooded a street in Belleville on Friday, with weather forecasters predicting rainfall totals between a quarter and half of an inch.
Main Street in Belleville is closed between Greylock Place and Terry Street until further notice, Mayor Michael Melham reported.
“Please plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time,” the mayor advised.

According to the National Weather Service, a coastal flood advisory is in effect from 6 to 11 a.m. on Friday. A heavy wind advisory is also in place.
“Minor flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline,” forecasters said.

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 43 by 5pm. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 23 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. West wind 6 to 9 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 35. South wind 6 to 8 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. West wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24.
