Grenade Found Inside Nutley Home

Nutley and Essex County public safety officials responded to a Nutley home this week when construction workers found a grenade lodged into the wall. 

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, a contractor working on a home on Hillside Avenue reported a hazardous condition to police.  When police arrived, they found a grenade lodged inside the wall.  

Nutley police said safety precautions were taken and nearby residents evacuated. The Essex County Bomb Squad responded and deemed the grenade no longer active. 

The bomb squad took possession of the grenade for proper disposal.
