Items Worth Thousands Stolen in Belleville Burglary Spree

$16,000 worth of jewelry taken in one of three recent break-ins.

Thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, computers and video games systems were reported stolen in burglaries in Belleville last week.

A Linden Avenue resident left their home at 3 a.m. and returned at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 and found a window smashed and an Xbox game system and a Hewlett Packard laptop computer missing.

The following day, police investigated another burglary on Linden Avenue. Police said while the resident was away from the home between 1:30 and 11 p.m., the basement window was removed and $16,000 worth of jewelry was taken from the home.

On Monday, June 17, police responded to a report that an apartment on Mill Street had been burglarized sometime that day while the homeowner was out between 1 and 7:15 p.m. Police said the front door had been pried open and that the apartment was ransacked. A Gateway laptop and $4,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen.

The following Wednesday, police investigated a report of a burglary at Terrace Place. Police said the resident left the home at 8:30 a.m. and returned at about 9 a.m. and found a screen was popped to enter an open window. The apartment was ransacked with an Xbox game system, a Toshiba laptop computer, assorted jewelry and watches stolen.
