Latest Tax Bills Delayed For Nutley Homeowners, Town Offers Grace Period

Nutley residents will see a delay in receiving their third quarter property tax bills. Here's why, a town official says.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley residents will see a delay in receiving their latest property tax bills – but there will be a grace period to make up for it, officials say.

Township Commissioner Thomas Evans announced Wednesday that there will be a delay in residents receiving their third quarter property tax bills this year.

“The township is still waiting for certification of the tax rate from Essex County,” he said.

After the state adopted their budget on June 30, Essex County Board of Taxation was able to begin certifying 2025 tax rates. This has resulted in a delay, Evans said.

Although the third quarter payment due date is set for Aug. 1, the grace period has been extended to Aug. 30, Evans noted.

The commissioner said that during this grace period, no interest or late fees will be applied. However, these charges will take effect after this period, he added.
