Nutley Honors Three Jefferson Award Winners
Township residents recognized for triumph over adversity, volunteerism.

Twenty-five Jefferson Award were doled out to New Jersey individuals and organizations in 2013 in recognition of volunteerism and leadership.
Three of those awards went to residents of Nutley, which officials and volunteers alike pointed to as evidence of the town’s admirable spirit of volunteerism.
Anthony J. Iannarone was the honoree in the “the Against All Odds” category, which recognizes an individual for overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles to succeed in volunteering. Iannarone, a former Roche executive celebrated for his efforts in support of the Nutley Library, was able to achieve great personal success despite losing his hands in a laboratory accident while a student at Rutgers University.

Michael Paolino received the Lifetime Service award for his involving in a long list of local service and recreation organizations including the Nutley Youth Baseball League, and the John Walker Foundation, the Jaycees, the Nutley Red Cross (which he has sat on the board of for 35 years) and the Tom Hanlon Scholarship Fund.
Aaron Titus was recognized for Faith-Based Services, reflecting his efforts working with volunteers from the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints in the volunteer group Mormon Helping Hands during Superstorm Sandy.
