Car Burglary Spree Under Investigation in Nutley
Thieves made off with tools, a GPS navigation and money.

Nutley police have reported numerous thefts from cars in the township in early June and late May, including half a dozen that reportedly occurred on a single night.
Nutley police reported that six cars were broken into on the evening of Friday, May 1 and morning of Saturday, June 1. Police say the thefts occurred on the area of Ridge Road and Coeyman Avenues. Almost all vehicles were reportedly unlocked. Police say thieves stole small amounts of change in the thefts.
The next day, the owner of a 2003 Chrysler told police that a Garmin GPS system was stolen from the car that that the glove compartment and center console had been rummaged through. Police say it is possible the doors to the vehicle were left unlocked.

On Monday, a Church street resident a driver who parked their car on Valley Road reported that their cars had been broken into. Both cars were reportedly ransacked and two Garmin GPS systems were taken out of the vehicles. While police do not know if the car doors were locked, there was no damage to the vehicles that would indicate forced entry.
The same, day, two vehicles parked in the driveway of a home on Howard Street were reportedly rummaged through, with loose change taken from one of the cars.

On Friday, a work van parked on Humbert St. was reported to have been burglarized during the night. Over $1,200 worth of tools and a Garmin GPS system were reported stolen.
While there were no visible signs of forced entry to the vehicle, the owners reportedly said it was locked.
Residents are reminded to lock their car doors at all times.
