Nutley Shows Martha Stewart Some Love On The Drew Barrymore Show
"I have had no complaints about Nutley, ever ... it was the nicest place to grow up," the famed businesswoman and TV personality said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Martha Stewart recently got a warm show of love from her hometown of Nutley, which held an honorary street renaming in her name – and shared the surprise on the Drew Barrymore Show.
Stewart’s family moved to Nutley when she was 3-years-old. She graduated from Nutley High School, and has recalled growing up in the township numerous times in blog articles and social media posts.
Last week, this history resurfaced during a remote broadcast from Elm Place: the street Stewart grew up on. Accompanied by Nutley town officials, Stewart’s niece Sophie Slater and nephew Chris Herbert in a short ceremony unveiling an honorary street sign bearing the name: “Martha Stewart Place.”

“One of the things I always say is Nutley is a destination in life,” Mayor John Kelly III said, joined by Commissioners Mauro Tucci, Alphonse Petracco and Thomas Evans as Stewart and Barrymore watched from a studio in Manhattan.

“It’s an important destination in life because of people like Martha who are from here who have had so much success in so many different fields,” Kelly said. “We wanted to honor that legacy here in Nutley so we passed this unanimous proclamation in honor of Martha.”
For her part, Stewart recalled her time in the township with fondness.
“I’ve always written very fondly about Nutley,” she told Barrymore. “I have had no complaints about Nutley, ever ... it was the nicest place to grow up.”

Stewart has bashed parts of the movie – particularly its final scenes – but has also acknowledged that some of it “shows a strong woman standing up for herself and living through horror as well as some huge success.”
