Officials to Announce First Senior Residence Facility in Belleville

Announcement of 101-room senior housing built on unused railroad property to take place Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Belleville seniors are invited to be on hand for some big news this week. 

On Wednesday at 11 a.m. officials will congregate at the Belleville Senior Center on 125 Franklin Ave to announce plans to develop the first senior residence facility in Belleville.

According to a press statement, the $18 million project will include the construction of 101 senior units on unused railroad property which they say will create a vibrant senior citizen complex when paired with the adjacent senior center building.

The development is funded through a public-partnership between Governor Christie and the State of New Jersey, the County of Essex, the Township of Belleville and the Mill Street Urban Renewal LLC.
