Owner Hurt Defending Their Pet From Other Dogs In Nutley: Police

A dog owner was injured while defending their pet from two attacking dogs in Nutley, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — A dog owner was injured while defending their pet from two other dogs in Nutley last week, authorities said.

The victim told Nutley police that they were walking their dog on Rhoda Avenue on Sept. 13, when two other dogs ran out of a nearby yard through an open gate and started attacking them.

The victim was able to shield their pet from harm, but sustained cuts on both hands, forearms and knees, as well as a deep puncture wound to their right hand, authorities said.

Bloomfield emergency medical workers treated the victim at the scene.

The attacking dogs were properly vaccinated, but weren’t registered with the township. Nutley police issued their owner citations for having a dog-at-large and for the lack of a license, authorities said.
