Government Reorganizations, Fourth of July Celebrations This Week
Belleville Council holds reorganization meeting Monday at noon, while Nutley Board of Commissioners convene on Tuesday.
The Belleville Council holds its reorganization meeting at noon Monday at Council Chambers at Town Hall. Last year’s reorg meeting saw a special guest in the form of Newark Mayor Cory Booker. There are no guarantees he’s going to show this year, though.
The Nutley Board of Commissioners meet on Tuesday night. The Nutley PBA announced in June that they were planning a rally to protest promotions in the public safety department, but PBA president Gerard Tusa said the rally would occur at the July 16 meeting.
Nutley and Belleville will each hold celebrations and fireworks displays to mark the Fourth of July. Nutley’s Fourth of July celebration, taking place at the Park oval, will have its usual family fun and fireworks, but this year it will include a video of Nutley’s Ultimate Flashmob project.

Belleville Municipal Stadium hosts Belleville’s all-day celebration, which includes Youth Field Day Activities for ages 4-12 starting at 9:30 a.m.
