Report: Priest That Groped Child Worked With Youth In Nutley Parish

Disgraced Priest reportedly gave talks to the parish's youth group and accompanied with them on trips to Canada.

Nutley Church Parishioners are questioning the access a Priest who confessed to touching an underage boy had to local youth.

According to a report by The Record, members of Nutley's Holy Family Church are now taking a discerning look at the involvement of Rev. Michael Fugee with the church. The paper reported Fugee gave talks to the parish's youth group and accompanied with them on trips to Canada despite Fugee's legal agreement prohibiting him from working with children.

Earlier this year, the Huffington Post reported that in 2003 Fugee was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual contact after he told police he intentionally touched a 14-year-old boy's crotch during wrestling sessions at the boy's home, the New York Times reported. Fugee later said he made the admission because he got impatient.

The Record reported that the Nutley information followed allegations made last week that Fugee heard the confessions of children on youth retreats in Colts Neck.

According to NPR, Fugee received five years' probation, but an appellate court overturned the verdict three years later, deciding that the trial judge instructed the jury incorrectly. The archdiocese agreed to prevent Fugee's contact with children instead of going through another trial.
