Robber Sought, Priest Protested, School Budget Cut

The Belleville Township Council voted Tuesday night to reduce the tax levy portion of the nearly $63 million 2013-14 school budget by $760,000, a decrease that did not satisfy one council member.The amount trimmed means the average household tax increase drops from about $270 to approximately $110, officials said.

Sheriff Offers Reward for Armed Robber

The Essex County Sheriff's Office posted a $5,000 cash reward on Thursday for information leading to the arrest of two men wanted in connection with eleven armed robberies of convenience stores, liquor stores and gas stations in towns, including a Bloomfield conveniene store, said Sheriff Armando Fontoura.

Belleville Woman Accused of Slapping Toddlers at Daycare

A Belleville woman who worked at a Jersey City daycare center is being held in Hudson County jail on multiple charges stemming from accusations that she slapped and mistreated children. 

The controversy surrounding the work of former Wyckoff pastor Michael Fugee flared up Sunday at a protest outside the Holy Family Church in Nutley, NorthJersey.com reported.
