Silver Bells In Belleville: 2024 Tree Lighting, Holiday Extravaganza
The township is putting the finishing touches on what may be the "biggest and best holiday celebration yet," Belleville officials said.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Belleville.
The township is putting the finishing touches on what may be the “biggest and best holiday celebration yet,” Belleville officials recently announced.
This year's annual Christmas Tree lighting event and “holiday extravaganza” will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14. The event will take place at Belleville High School, 100 Passaic Avenue.

Here’s what to expect, according to a news release:
“The festivities will kick off early, at 3:30 p.m., with food trucks and holiday shops – your golden opportunity to find the perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for loved one. Then at 5:30 p.m., the annual party will kick into high gear when the trackless train rides start rolling and Victorian carolers begin lifting their voices. There will also be a petting zoo, a giant snow globe, Santa’s workshop with our own elves, family photo opportunities and much more. (No matter whether you’ve been naughty or nice). And what would a holiday festival be without an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus? It all leads up to the highlight of the night: the lighting of the Christmas tree at 8:15 p.m.”
“The night is about coming together as a community and making spirits bright,” Mayor Michael Melham said. “And nowhere do they shine brighter than in Belleville.”

SANTA MAILBOXES
As Christmas nears, Belleville’s children can also write “Santa” a letter.
Three mailboxes have been placed around Belleville where children of all ages can drop their letters, postage-free, no later than Dec. 15.
“Santa is busy in the workshop, so the earlier the letters reach the North Pole, the better,” town officials suggested.
The mailboxes are at Town Hall (152 Washington Ave.), the Belleville Public Library (221 Washington Ave.) and Silver Lake Fire House (134 Franklin St.)
Include the child’s name and address, the school the child attends and the grade, as well as an accomplishment over this past year. Also include what the child is wishing and hoping for this year, and any other important details that Santa ought to know.
