St. Peter's Church Parishioners Brave Heat for Corpus Christi Procession

Hundreds of parishioners at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church spent the afternoon in sweltering heat on Sunday to take part in the Annual Corpus Christi Procession. 

Fr. Ivan Sciberras, Pastor at St. Peter’s Church, carried the Monstance containing the Eucharistic species, on this feast which was instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1264 in order to promote a deeper belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. 

The procession ended with benediction on the steps of the Church building, which this year celebrates 100 years from the laying of its cornerstone.
