'Tanning Mom' Hospitalized After Seizure, Reports Say

Nutley resident, who has been in a Florida drug rehab center, is reported to be in stable condition.

Nutley resident Patricia Krentcil, infamously known as Tanning Mom, was taken to a hospital after experiencing a seizure on Saturday, Gossip website TMZ  reported.

Krentcil, who has been staying in a rehab facility in Florida for alcohol dependency since June, was reportedly stabilized on the way to the emergency room but will remain at the hospital.

Krentcil's infamy began in April, 2012 when school officials noticed burns on her daughter's leg and reported the injuries to authorities. Following an investigation, Krentcil was arrested on April 24, 2012. Under New Jersey law, children under 14-years-old are banned from using tanning salons.

The relatively outlandish nature of the charges drew national media attention and turned Krentcil into a tabloid sensation. As gossip news outlets like Gawker have noted, she has parlayed her status into nightclub appearances and a foray into rap music.
