Teen Stabbed During Fight In Belleville, Police Charge 4 With Assault

Police found a 15-year-old with stab wounds to his chest, thigh and shoulder.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A 15-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight involving several other teens in Belleville earlier this week, authorities say.

According to the Belleville Police Department, officers responded to Overlook Avenue around 3:10 p.m. on Monday after getting a report about a wounded juvenile.

Officers found a 15-year-old male with three, non-life-threatening stab wounds to the chest, thigh and shoulder. He was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

The teen has since been released from the hospital, police said Friday.

While the officers were at the scene, one of them saw a vehicle operating “erratically” near Overlook Avenue. Police stopped the car, finding a 16-year-old male with a cut above his eye inside.

The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for treatment and later released to a guardian, police said.

After conducting an investigation, police charged three juveniles and one 18-year-old male with aggravated assault. The juveniles were transported to the Essex County Youth Detention Center, and the adult male was transferred to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
