Central Regional Parking Lot For Sale: Here's What's Replacing It

BERKELEY, NJ — Rumors have been flying around all over social media about the Central Regional Middle School parking lot. The two acres are up for sale, for $1.5 million. And while people have been sharing ideas of what could possibly be built there, Superintendent Tom Parlapanides addressed the rumors and set the record straight at a recent Board of Education meeting.

Parlapanides said that the Berkeley Township Council and the Central Regional Board of Education had many meetings recently about the parking lot, as both have to agree with what can be done with it. If it is not used for school purposes, the land would go back to the township, Parlapanides said.

After discussions, the groups settled on what they want for the parking lot. It will be replaced with an ice rink, a pool and restaurant or some sort of food spot, Parlapanides said. These facilities will be for the students.

The bid will be publicly advertised, the board's attorney Christopher Dasti said. The builder will fund the project and no taxpayer money will be used.
