Evacuation Asked of About 35 Bedminster Homes
Bedminster Mayor Bob Holtaway said homes along the Lamington River were evacuated in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.

About 35 homes along the Lamington River in Bedminster, including those in the Burnt Mills and Pottersville areas, have been asked to evacuate as Hurricane Sandy approaches, Bedminster Mayor Robert Holtaway said Sunday night.
Holtaway said that the Pottersville Volunteer Fire Co.'s firehouse, shared by Bedminster and Tewksbury townships, was being readied to accept anyone who needs shelter.
Somerset County also was expected to make Raritan Valley Community College available for those county residents seeking shelter, Holtaway said on Sunday.

However, in the past, those in the township who live in flood-prone areas generally have been able to find a place to stay with family and friends when necessary, Holtaway said.
Meanwhile, Bedminster Township's municipal website already announced on Sunday afternoon that municipal offices were due to be closed on Monday. Those with an emergency were asked to call 908-234-0585.
