Along with Summer Activities, Busy Thursday Coming Up in Bernardsville-Bedminster

Two meetings and one free movie 'under the stars' coming up in Bernardsville and Bedminster. Take your pick.

Summer may be in full swing — the Bernardsville Pool is fully open for business, and this Thursday night members can stop by for another free movie at dusk — but there's also meetings coming up this week.

The Bedminster Township Board of Education has rescheduled last Thursday's meeting to choose an acting superintendent to replace Carolyn Koos, who resigned earlier this month, for this Thursday night.

The township school board for the elementary school system is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the faculty lounge at the Bedminster Township Public School, 234 Somerville Road in Bedminster.

Also on Thursday, the Bernardsville Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. at borough hall, at 166 Mine Brook Road in Bernardsville.

Bernardsville must file answer to keep affordable housing funds

Among other issues to tackle this month, the board is coming up with a response to the state Council on Affordable Housing to show that the borough has committed affordable housing funds of almost $1 million previously put aside through developer's fees for affordable housing projects. COAH and the state are seeking to take those funds, collected in previous years, from municipalities around the state who haven't been spending the affordable housing money. Bernardsville planners have said the money already is earmarked for projects such as rehabilitation of housing, and affordability assistance for residence.

An answer is due the state by Aug. 2.

Pool swim teams planning Meet of Champions

However, believe it or not, area swim teams, including the teams from the Bernardsville Pool team, are scheduled to wrap up their competition season this weekend with the annual Meet of Champions.

This year, the Bernardsville Pool off Seney Drive will host the 10 and under swim teams on Saturday morning. On Sunday, the older teams will compete at the Chester Area Pool on North Road in Chester.
