August Art Exhibit Begins At Library in Bedminster, More This Weekend

With rain due to stop, it's time to enjoy outdoor activities again on Friday and beyond.

While the first day of August may have brought out more umbrellas and rain parkas than bathing suits or shorts, summer's fine weather is due to return on Friday, and also, a chance to enjoy many special activities, both indoors and out.

ARTsee, a group of two dozen artists from the Bernardsville and Basking Ridge area, will exhibit at the Clarence Dillon Public Library at 2336 Lamington Road in Bedminster from August 2 to 29. There will be a reception for the artists and public from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15.

The exhibit will be held in the downstairs meeting rooms of the Library. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, 908-234-2325

"King Lear" set to make delayed debut

Since Thursday's production was called off due to rain, Friday night will be the first scheduled performance of Trilogy Repertory Co. and Troupe of Friend's production of "King Lear."

The free play, with donations accepted, is due to be staged at the outdoor amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Don't forget the Bernardsville Farmers Market from around 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Bernardsville train station parking lot on Mine Brook Road.

Meanwhile, the persistent Bernardsville Recreation Department has scheduled a third date for its free showing of "Wreck-It Ralph" at 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Bernardsville Pool off Seney Drive. The first two scheduled dates were rained out.

Summer's bounty was the subject of a scheduled presentation for all Somerset Hills area senior citizens at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at the Senior Wellness Center, 202 Mount Airy Road in Basking Ridge.

"Berries and You: Perfect Together" will be resented by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, to explore the health benefits of berries with a focus on New Jersey’s berries. The speaker will discuss the history, production and health contributions of berries followed by a tasting, according to a preview from the Senior Wellness Center.
