Bedminster Committee Considers Videotaping Meetings
The township may be able to use a $30,000 Cablevision fee to defray the equipment costs of videotaping and broadcasting its meetings.

Bedminster may be moving closer to having its Township Committee meetings videotaped and televised.
At Monday night's committee meeting, Mayor Steve Parker appointed a subcommittee to look into the details of videotaping meetings, according to an article on MyCentralJersey.com. The move pleased Basil Scarperdas, a former committee candidate, who has been videotaping the meetings himself and posting them on the Bedminster Democratic Party's Youtube channel.
The actual taping the meetings can be done by volunteers, and the equipment costs partially defrayed by a $30,000 franchise renewal fee given to the municipality by Cablevision, Committee Member Carolyn Freeman said in the MyCentralJersey.com report.
Scarperdas had called for the taping and showing of committee meetings in an effort for the mostly Republican body to demonstrate 'transparency' in their dealings.
