Bedminster Men Nominated for Legislative Positions

John Gilbert and Charles Preston Eader are among the people chosen.

Gov. Chris Christie filed his nominations Monday for those legislative positions not yet confirmed by the state senate.

Two Bedminster residents were among those nominated, or receiving notices of intent to nominate, by Gov. Christie.

John H. Gilbert was nominated as a public member of the Delaware and Raritan Canal Commission.

Gilbert has served in the state government beginning in 1987 when he worked for the New Jersey State Planning Commission as a legislative analyst. He also worked on the Christie Todd Whitman campaign for governor, and was then appointed to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, providing staff support to the NJ Clean Air Council.

In 1996, Gilbert began working in the Governor’s Office of Policy and Planning, focusing on environmental policy and related issues. He held that position until 1998 when he returned to the NJDEP as policy director, where he integrated environmental planning objectives into the department’s land use regulations.

Then, in 1999, Gilbert was appointed as assistant director of the Garden State Preservation Trust, which provided funding for green acres and farmland preservation.

From there, Gilbert left the state service to work with a private social nonprofit group in Peapack. He was responsible for implementing policy directives for fundraising, infrastructure maintenance, public speaking and more.

Charles Preston Eader has been reappointed to the Somerset County Board of Taxation.

Eader has a bachelors degree in business administration from Emory University, and began his career in 1995 as an account executive with AT&T in Ft. Lauderdale.

From 1997 through 2002, Eader served as finance manager with AT&T in Bedminster, and, since then, has served as lead chief of staff and lead product marketing manager with AT&T in Bedminster.

In January 2010, Eader was initially appointed to the Somerset County Board of Taxation by Gov. Jon Corzine., and has been a member of the Somerset County Notary Public Commission since 2004.

Eader is also currently the treasurer of the board of directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
