Bedminster School Board Set to Discuss Acting Super, More on Thursday

Movie night at Bernardsville pool.

The Bedminster Township Board of Education has the task of selecting an acting superintendent to replace Carolyn Koos, who resigned earlier this month, for this Thursday night. The meeting was rescheduled from last Thursday.

The township school board for the elementary school system is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the faculty lounge at the Bedminster Township Public School, 234 Somerville Road in Bedminster.

Also on Thursday, the Bernardsville Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. at borough hall, at 166 Mine Brook Road in Bernardsville.

Among other issues to tackle this month, the board is coming up with a response to the state Council on Affordable Housing to show that the borough has committed affordable housing funds of almost $1 million previously put aside through developer's fees for affordable housing projects. COAH and the state are seeking to take those funds, collected in previous years, from municipalities around the state who haven't been spending the affordable housing money. Bernardsville planners have said the money already is earmarked for projects such as rehabilitation of housing, and affordability assistance for residence.

An answer is due the state by Aug. 2.

Meanwhile, kids and parents who want an evening to relax can head over to the Bernardsville pool for a free movie at dusk.
