Bernardsville Library Closing, But Could Become Shelter Reception Center
Library to be closed for regular use on Monday.

The Bernardsville Public Library will be closed on Monday in anticipation of inclement weather from Hurricane Sandy.
However, a library official said shortly after 4 p.m. on Sunday that the library may be opened as a shelter center even if not for regular use.
Bernardsville Police Chief Kevin Valentine said the community room in the library is the borough's designated shelter reception center, but would not serve as a shelter. The community room in the library could remain open even if the rest of the library is closed.

If the borough does open a local shelter, Valentine said it would be at Bernards High School, but only if the need presents itself.
"Residents should prepare to shelter in place, then with family," Valentine said. "After that, then local and county shelters are the alternative."
