Bernardsville Swimmers Collect Gold Medals at Meet of Champions
Bernardsville Pool hosts 10 and under competitions for Meet of Champions last Saturday.
This summer's swim team affiliated with the Bernardsville Pool in Basking Ridge competed again in this year's Morris County Summer Swim League's Meet of Champions, a friendly competition that wraps up the season for area swim teams affiliated with nearby public pools
The Bernardsville Pool, which ended the season with a 6-1 season of competing with local pool's teams this week, and also on Saturday hosted this year's Meet of Champions for younger swimmers in the annual event, ages 10 and under.
The coaches participated in an end-of-season relay race on Saturday that brought cheers from the crowd at the Bernardsville Pool.
The Bernardsville swim team's head coach, Anne Laurita, submitted the team's list of individual gold-medal winners from both days of the Meet of Champions.She said swimmers who won both of their two individual events were:
Rob Alexy won the 8 and under boys 25 free and 25 breaststroke races.
Teodora Kolarov won the 9-10 girls 25 free and 25 backstroke races.
Max Alexy won the 11-12 boys 50 free and 50 breaststroke races.
Mary Laurita won the 13-14 girls 50 free and 50 butterfly swims.
Tatiana Prendella won the 15-18 girls 50 free and 50 backstroke races.
The following swimmers won 1 race each:
Alex Ecko won the 8 and under boys 25 butterfly swim.
Sean Robinson won the 9-10 boys 25 breaststroke.
Ali Maffei won the 11-12 girls 50 fly.
Laurita also provided the winning relay teams. She said that Rob Alexy, Teodora Kolarov, Max Alexy, Mary Laurita, and Tatiana Prendella also participated in one of these winning relays, meaning these swimmers left the meet with 3 gold medals each!
Girls 10 and under medley relay: Madeline Kiel, Drew Davis, Becca Michaels, and Teodora Kolarov
Boys 8 and under freestyle relay: Alex Ecko, Matthew Guinta, Elliot Buzby, Rob Alexy
Boys 11-12 freestyle relay: Max Alexy, Joe Kiel, Ross Zazzarino, and Matt Voight
Girls 13 and over freestyle relay: Mary Laurita, Shannon Phillips, Lucy Grey, and Tatiana Prendella
