Bolandi Returning as Acting Bedminster School Chief
Administrator to be paid $520 per diem rate after resignation of Carolyn Koos.

Ronald Bolandi, who served as acting superintendent of schools earlier this year, will be returning to that position.
The board of education voted on Thursday to hire Bolandi as acting superintendent at a $520 per diem rate to fill the position created by the resignation of Carolyn Koos after just 11 months in the position.
Bolandi served as acting superintendent during Koos’s sick leave earlier this year.
Bolandi has extensive experience in New Jersey as a school administrator. From 2004 to 2010 he served as superintendent in the East Windsor Regional School District. The Whitehouse Station resident has also served as superintendent in Tewksbury, Piscataway, Chester Township and Winslow. He served as assistant superintendent in Middletown and Middlesex Borough.
After his retirement from East Windsor, he served as interim superintendent in Kearny and Edison, one of the largest school districts in the state.
Bolandi received his bachelor’s degree from Pace University and his masters and doctorate degrees from Seton Hall.
Board of Education President Louis Casella said that Bolandi may not be working five days a week in Bedminster. He explained that Bolandi, who has worked for larger school districts, believes he can complete the superintendent’s tasks in Bedminster in three days a week.
Bolandi had been working as a consultant to the district since Koos’ resignation. He has been working with the other administrators in the district on scheduling matters, Casella said.
Casella said that Bolandi will not receive any benefits. Bolandi will only be paid for the days he works, Casella said.
The superintendent’s salary in Bedminster, a district with only one school, is capped at $135,000.
Bolandi will serve as acting superintendent until Dec. 31 when Koos’ resignation takes effect.
At that point, Casella explained, the board can then appoint an interim superintendent. Bolandi can serve as an acting and interim superintendent for a maximum of two years.
That possibility, Casella said, gives the board “a lot of time to figure out” what to do with the superintendent’s position.
