Bridgewater Man Named Interim RVCC President

James Ventantonio will serve until a new president is hired.

With the current president leaving the college, Bridgewater resident James Ventantonio will be serving as interim president of Raritan Valley Community College.

Current president Casey Crabill has announced her resignation, effective June 15, to take a position as president of Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York.

“Raritan Valley is a jewel as an educational institution, and I am looking forward to continuing the quality and the caliber of the college established by Dr. Crabill and the board of trustees,” Ventantonio said.

Ventantonio said he has management experience, and determined that it means taking care of the people.

“In the case of RVCC, this means being attentive to the students, faculty and staff, the board of trustees and the communities and counties we serve,” he said. “While I will be an interim president, I will not be a placeholder.”

Ventantonio said he was on the board of trustees for the college for several years, and served as secretary, vice chair, chair of the audit committee and as a member of the RVCC Foundation Board.

Aside from that, Ventantonio was a tenured law professor at Seton Hall Law School, and also worked there in administration as Director of Clinical Programs.

Ventantonio said the college will be starting a nation-wide search for a permanent president, during which time he will serve.

“The search will take at least six months, but more realistically a year,” he said.
