Get Up and Get Moving — Open House at Dance Center of NJ
When/Where: Friday, Saturday and Sunday all day at the Dance Center of New Jersey on Claremont Road in Bernardsville.
Why Go: Get a sense of the center with free dance classes, gifts and refreshments. Call 908-229-4204 to pre-register.
Cost: Free.
Penny Lane Dog Adoptions and Senior Sanctuary
When/Where: Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cherrybrook Bedminster on Route 206 in Bedminster.
Why Go: Want your new best friend? It’s a great day to find a new dog.

Healthy Kids Day at the Somerset Hills YMCA
When/Where: Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Somerset Hills YMCA on Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: The event will encourage families to live healthy lives and stay active with face painting, live music, hip hop classes, a water balloon contest, climbing wall, kickball and much more.
Cost: Free.
“Another Place and Time, A Journey of Light”
When/Where: Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Center for Contemporary Art on Burnt Mills Road in Bedminster.
Why Go: The event will feature piano music by Heidi Breyer, plus the artwork of Alexander Volkov, in addition to a cocktail reception. The event will benefit the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Alexandria.
Cost: $50.
Chabad's Outdoor Community Planting Day and BBQ
When/Where: Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chabad Jewish Center at Basking Ridge, 3048 Valley Road, Basking Ridge.
Why Go: All in the community are invited to celebrate the springtime Jewish holiday Lag B'Omer, Chabad Jewish Center's Annual Outdoor Community Planting Day and Barbeque. Fun and earth-friendly activities as well as food.

Jim Nuzzo Performs at Bernardsville Library
When/Where: Sunday at the Bernardsville Public Library on Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville.
Why Go: The singer and songwriter from Edison will perform a free concert. He is best known for baseball songs, like “Subway,” which was the official theme of the 2000 Subway Series between the Yankees and the Mets.
Cost: Free.
Fifth Annual Project E.A.R.T.H Scavenger Hunt
When/Where: Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Environmental Education Center off South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: You can celebrate Earth Day and also go on an exciting scavenger hunt when at the 5th annual Project E.A.R.T.H. (Environment.Awareness .Responsibility.Teaching.Hope) Swamp Search! Find exercise and even cool prizes after a hunt along the EEC's trails that also will educate participants about the importance of the Great Swamp as an ecological and recreational resource.
Cost: Free.
Annual Fishing Derby at Southard Park
When/Where: Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Southard Park off N. Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge.
Why Go: The park will be stocked with trout for this popular family event held by the Bernards Township Parks and Recreation Department. Prizes for biggest fish in various categories. Just bring your pole and bait, no need for license.
Cost: Free, just show up.
College Financing Program at the Bernards Township Library
When/Where: Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the 32 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.
Why Go: Financial Aid Administrator Joe Roberto, with more than 38 years of experience, is scheduled to speak about financial opportunities available for college-bound students. Forms will be available.
