ICYMI: Bernardsville-Bedminster Crime - See The Latest Data

The Department of Law and Public Safety has released the latest crime data in its Uniform Crime Report.

The Department of Law and Public Safety recently released the 2013 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which shows crime data for the state and municipalities.

The report, which was released on Friday, April 17, showed Bernardsville had a increase in violent crime in 2013 from 2012. The borough also had an increase in non-violent crime in 2013, compared to the previous year.

Bedminster, however, saw slight declines in both violent and non-violent crime in 2013, compared to 2012.

The Department of Law and Public Safety’s report indicated New Jersey’s overall crime rate decreased by seven percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to a press release from the department.

Bernardsville reported 2 violent crimes in 2013, up from 0 in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people increased from 0.0 to 0.3, the report said. The borough saw an increase in non-violent crime, from 29 in 2012 to 44 in 2013. The non-violent crime rate per 1,000 increased, from 3.7 in 2012 to 5.7 in 2013.

Bedminster reported 1 violent crime in 2013, down from 2 in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people decreased from 0.2 in 2012 to 0.1 in 2013. The township reported 46 non-violent crimes in 2013, down slightly from 49 in 2012. The non-violent crime rate per 1,000 decreased from 6.0 in 2012 to 5.6 in 2013.
